I'm declaring Spring is officially here*

What a difference a bit of sunshine and warmer temperatures make!  Today we decided to go out for a walk after breakfast and a Skype with Grandma and Grandad.

We packed the car up with a bike, a scooter, lunch for all and coats (just in case) and headed off for the lake.  We went for a lovely walk along the Waterfront trail.  The water was glistening with the sun shining on it, the birds were singing, Small scooted off ahead and Smallest cycled, coming back just to tell us where he was going next and Huffle and I walked hand in hand.

the old men on their bench.  cycling/scooting
beautiful dog wood, geese flying and some shell suits - wow which year are we in?
There were hardly any people about until we hit the first of two parks.  At that point, in true Hall style, we found we were in the middle of a Walk/Run for charity.  Luckily it hadn't started yet and we managed to escape the start of the race by going to park number 2 where Small had a little accident falling off a roundabout and winding himself.  After we had calmed him down and got his breathing back to normal, he was fine and off we went again.

climbing a big log, seed heads and the lake
We found a bench next to the water in an absolute sun trap and sat and had our lunch there, at which point the race caught up with us.  It also reached its halfway point and turned around before we finished so we missed the end of the race as well.

three odd ones!
me and Huffle, us all.
We walked/scooted/cycled back and ended up doing 8km in all which is not bad for a first Spring walk.  The boys enjoyed it and got to jump over rocks, climb fallen trees and logs and have a good scoot and cycle, plus a play on three parks and eat a Huffle Muffin (which was made slightly better by adding frosting).

By the time we got home, the snow had melted considerably and we could start to see plants and bulbs just peeking through.  Now thats more like it!

wonder what it is?
Unfortunately Otto, next door, had lit a bonfire and the smoke was coming our way and was really smoking so we couldn't really stay outside - inconsiderate stinky bum!  However I did get to refill the bird feeders so the squirrels should be happier!

The boys played, fought, argued, got split up, played again and eventually earnt the right to play on the wii.  Huffle tried to fix a dodgy IPad and I blogged and then Huffle and I sat on the front porch to enjoy the last of the days sunshine.
