Pure Geekiness

Today was the final of the Cubs Regional KubKar racing and  because Small came third last week, he qualified for todays final.  This meant that Huffle and him had to be ready, breakfasted and out by 9am.

another badge to sew on.  the cars lined up for judging in design.
watching the race.  the race starter.  waiting for the next race.

Smallest and I stayed at home and waited for our message to say that Small's race was beginning.  However, Smallest and I both had showers and got the message while our hair was still wet so we missed he first race.  Still, we saw plenty of other races and a few more of Small's.  Small was very nervous but his car seemed to do well to start with.  Unfortunately it got so far and then lost out to faster cars.  He picked up his badge and we headed back home.  Small was very disappointed but we assured him he had done well to get to the finals.  We are hopeful we have picked up some tips for next years race.

We dropped one of the cars back, picked up some stuff needed and headed back out again.  This time to The Tire.  Huffle needed a new brake light and we were looking for Smallest's present from Grandma and Grandad (a swing ball or as they call it here, a Tetherball).  The Tire didn't have it so we now have to find another place.

As it was lunchtime we stopped for something to eat in an Italian.  We all had wood fired pizza which was lovely.  Huffle's and mine didn't have a tomato base which was different and somehow lighter.  We came home and Huffle watched Stoke lose while the boys played on the IPads and I sewed my quilt.
we had a go at Alien Dissection with one of Smallest's new toys

This afternoon the boys requested chocolate mousse so Smallest and I attempted to make it but it went horribly wrong.  We didn't want to waste the ingredients so Huffle made the awful mixture into some equally awful muffins (actually they are not bad just not enough sugar in them so they taste a bit strange.  We are going to freeze them and use them for puddings with ice cream!

We all sat down this afternoon and watched the start of Thor2 with our tea.  When we brought out the Chocolate Mousse (mousses, Meeces, Mice?!?!) the boys started giggling and looking guilty.  We asked what they had done and eventually Smallest said he had put a bogie in Huffle's mousse.  Oh my goodness!  They were sent up to their rooms and Huffle and I watched one of our programmes.  Smallest was beside himself with grief and eventually they came down.  Small had had a shower on his own initiative but we spoke to him about the incident and told him we thought he should know better and sent him back upstairs.  Smallest was in tears still and said it was Small's idea.  What a pair.  I blame HORRID HENRY!!!!

The boys played together with their lego and then watched some TV before bed.  I sewed some more and then we read at bedtime.  Smallest now has the little patchwork cushion I made and he uses it for Smelly (his precious little elephant from birth) to sleep on.  He asked me if I had a little blanket for him, when I said no he asked if he could put him in a sock to keep him warm.

Thor 2 is an excellent Greenwich film. I saw them filming it! You should recognise lots of places towards the end of the film.
