8:30am and Otto started mowing and built and lit a bonfire. I stuck my head out of the window and shouted OI DOOFUS but alas he couldn't hear me because he had headphones on the lucky b@57@r6. That was our Sunday morning lie-in ruined. Inconsiderate neighbour. Even Grandad got up. We decided we would fight fire with fire and have a fire pit later, though it didn't make any difference to him next door as the wind never blew in his direction.
It was a beautiful day and the trees were at their most colourful |
Grandad spent the morning cutting down trees and building the fire and Huffle and I cleared some grass from the side garden and planted all our plants and moved some. Grandma tidied and cleaned the kitchen and the boys played on the Wii all morning.
A bit of afternoon swingball |
For a late lunch we went to the Chippy and had Fish and Chips before coming home and starting on the fire. We spent all afternoon out there and cut down a few more trees. The hedged area to the field is letting so much more light in now and has left room for the lovely maples to grow. All wood was cut down into smaller pieces by Small, leaving Smallest to throw them on the fire under supervision of Grandad, the Crazy Arthur Brown Fire Starter.
Smallest roasted some marshmallows |
Grandma did a sterling job on the Sun Room windows and the Sun Room itself and we ended the afternoon with a football match.
My marshmallow roasting invention and more marshmallows |
Grandma plays football and Grandad and I have a beer |
Late afternoon/early evening we all came in for showers, tea and a game or three of cards.
