She ain't no Queen

A very rainy night caused sleepless nights for all of us. When it came time for Small to wake me this morning, it felt like it was the middle of the night. It was so dark!

Small went off in his band uniform as he had to play nearly all day. Two concerts for the Elementary schools visiting. He saw lots of people from his old school plus PaddingtonsDad (music teacher). Smallest said lots of people came up to him this afternoon to say "I saw your brother today" which got very boring (he said). Small was tired and all-Tuba'd-out. He has another concert tomorrow evening for parents.

I went to work leaving Huffle working at the kitchen table. By 1pm he was texting me asking if I was coming home (lunch was all ready and a Gotham episode waiting to be watched). Today we worked in the greenhouse making cuttings of peperomia, tradescantia, begonia and grasses). For coffee break we had a Parsnip Cake (carrot cake but with Parsnip and no spices) with a lemon cream cheese icing. Wow! I have the recipe and I WILL be making it. Just deeeelicious. I came home with a promise of a salad pot to take home next week and a lovely little lemon cypress tree. My dreams of having a cypress tree lined drive (minus the living in Italy) could come true, if only in the Summer. For now it is only 6" tall but if I look after it......... who knows (though we do have to bring it in for anything past -10*). Potted tree lined Summer drive?

Huffle and I had a quick lunch before the WaterHeater man came to advise us about our eggy water. Honestly it's disgusting, though not as bad as the holiday house we had one year where we retched using shower. Apparently they have done all they can already by installing a new heater and an anode and some kind of pellets! Now we need to get our water tested by the Health Department and see how much sulphur is in the water. Then we send it to a water company with the results to see what they think we should do. Doesn't look like a lot can be done right now unless the company suggest something else. It looks like it is to do with the fact our water comes from a well and the water table is high (oh that old chestnut again). Also our well feeds off the water table with vein-like tunnels and if they build new houses or dig new wells, then the new wells can feed from our 'veins' which means where we had good water before, we may now not due to other people 'stealing' our good veins. Don't know if that makes much sense but I kind of understand. So it's off to the Health Department for some sample bottles and we will see what the results are. We got our water tested when we first moved in because it tasted awful which is why we had the Reverse Osmosis fitted so at least we have good drinking water. If we need to fit a water treatment unit in, that would be more expense and possibly not sort out the smell!

This afternoon I did lots of finishing of crocheting, organising, sorting and writing of letters and then made dinner. The boys came home and pretty much disappeared for an hour watching ImACeleb in Small's room.

We had dinner, cleared up and then Huffle and I went for a walk. We popped next door to RSVP an invitation from them (not Otto) and then walked for over an hour and did around 6,500 steps. We were exhausted when we finished and we now have extensive knowledge of the mass of Christmas decorations around the Hamlet. We talked about doing a quick TimeLapse video of all the houses and their seasonal illuminations.

ImACeleb - oooh those huge spiders. NO!
