Don't cry over spilt things!

When Huffle got up this morning the sump pump was on constantly again but he managed to sort it.

The last day before school and work. Smallest had a party at his friends house late morning till past lunch so the rest of us played games and jigsawed. Smallest had a wet treasure hunt, indoor football in their basement, pizza cake and a fizzy orange drink. He came home with a sketch pad, felt tip pens and a little container full of sweets. He had had a good time.

The finished jigsaw from yesterday. Charles Wysocki - we like his jigsaw paintings

The weather started with freezing rain, which turned into rain. The drive was like an ice rink that had melted slightly. Very slushy with lots of water forming as the temperatures went up a bit. We all went out and cleared what we could before it became too slippery. We even had to get the ice breaker out as it was forming ice as quickly as we could clear it. We worked hard and then covered the drive in salt. Hopefully that will stop it being too bad tomorrow.

The forecast for tonight is Squally Snow and tomorrow could be worse with temperatures dipping dramatically - lovely, just in time for school.

After some more games, we started on a Roast Dinner. Towards the end of cooking, the Cauliflower Cheese erupted over the sides of the dish and caused stinky burning in the house, resulting in us taking the batteries out of the alarm again until it subsided!

Just as dinner was being served and Huffle was pouring water into the gravy jug, it spilt all over the worktop and down the sides of the oven. After dinner (which was lovely) we cleaned the inside of the oven using a Huffle invention (spatula with frog tape on the end) and then set it to steam clean after pulling out the oven and cleaning down the sides and back. There was plenty of gravy down there!

We thought we were all sorted until I decided the floor was dirty and needed mopping so I went to the basement to get the mop and bucket. That is when I found the basement under water and the sump had stopped pumping. All hands to the deck. Wellies found, mop mopping, buckets filled and emptied and then we got the pump working and the water disappeared.

It is properly snowing now and collecting well. Please let the bus be running tomorrow.

IS IT BEDTIME YET?
