And away we go........

SUNDAY

I was woken at 6am this morning by Moo. Smallest was fast asleep and didn't want to wake up. Moo finally woke him and he was in a chimpy mood. He said he didn't want to get up because his eyes wouldn't open properly. We got dressed, stuffed our PJ's in the case and waited for the taxi.

Said a tearful goodbye to Moo - WOW that was hard. She is off for four days to Devon with her friends so she will be busy.

Huffle and Small arrived in the taxi and we loaded the rest of the bags. He said it was very hard leaving his Mum and Dad's this morning. No one said this was going to be easy!!

The taxi ride wasn't too bad. Seemed very long. Really wanted to sleep but of course the boys had other ideas! Lots of "I Spy" and looking at lorries (trucks, we must call them trucks).

After we checked in our bags - (for those wanting to visit - a kind Canadian Lady told us to register with Air Canada so they can keep letting us know of cheap air deals throughout the year) we had a big breakfast and checked all our bags for liquids and put them in the appropriate bags.

The wait in the airport was okay. The boys found a helpful bear to talk to:-

When we finally got on the plane (some NOT so helpful people NOT helping us) with our many bags. The boys were wonderful. They each had a case to pull and we ran along the flat escalator (as Small called it). Our seats were right at the back of the plane.

We were first delayed by 30 minutes (sitting on the plane) and then a further 30-40 minutes (still sitting on the plane) all due to weather apparently - though from where I was sitting it was beautiful sunshine). Small started watching Rango and then played on the IPad. Smallest watched a bit of Cars2 and then The Nightmare before Christmas. I started to watch Bad Teacher but it was a little inappropriate seeing as I was sitting next to Small (boobs and bad language - he couldn't hear the language because he had his headphones in and he wasn't interested in the boobs because he was watching his own film).

All this delay-ness is not a good start!!!! We just wanted to get there. When the plane eventually got on the runway, there were about ten planes lined up waiting to take off. I have never seen anything like it before.

We took off through the fog and the lumpy clouds.

Long long journey. Lots of trips to the loo. Lots of sweets and chocolate stops. Few films. Couple of tv programmes........... Then finally we landed at Pearson Airport.

Then the fun started........... Carrying the bags off the plane and along the Extremely fast Express Travellator. Kids loved it. Then we had to queue in a "theme park" style (ie round and round and wiggly and round), at which point I got fed up and ducked under the 'ropes' only to be shouted at by a Chinese hitler lady - I shouted "he can't walk that far, he's only little' and carried along. I wasn't trying to get in front of anyone, just trying to make it easier for Smallest.

Then we went through passport control - no problem except he sent us off in the wrong direction where we ended up with the real immigrants - like asylum seekers. At which point I turned to Huffle and said "what are we doing here" "why have we come?". We got to the right place. Filled out some forms. Paid some money. Got our papers checked.

WE CAN NOW STAY IN THE COUNTRY OFFICIALLY UNTIL FEBRUARY 2014 when Huffle's passport runs out. I can't work (outside the home) and I can't go to school, but I can go on a course to learn how to make sheds (that's what the immigration man said - I think he was being funny!).

Off to find our hire car which was a beast of a car. Dodge Great Big Biffa Car Seven Seater. With a Sat Nav which had no idea where we were or where we wanted to get to. Useless!!!!

Huffle followed his nose and got us straight to the rental house. However, he did half of the journey with no lights on. A few cars flashed us but we had no idea why. We pulled over and up them on. Phew, safe travelling!!

LOVELY. Small but lovely with a really nice feel to it. The lady who owns it keeps injured Bats so you have to be really quiet when you come in the door - oh dear!

The boys air bed is pumped up (we bought this one, we didn't borrow it from Everett and Shorts this time - so hopefully it will stay up).

Bless the boys, they did really well. They both fell asleep in the Biffa Car and missed going past their new school. Never mind we can show them tomorrow.

The house is lovely and warm, in fact we have turned the heating down because we were too warm. It is rather chilly outside and the owner came to greet us in warm boots and a woolly hat!

Had a cup of tea, a slice of bread and butter and a bite of Betty Brownie's brownie.

NIGHT NIGHT. ZZzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZzzzzzzZZZZZzz

Fantastic to read all about your journey to Canada. Your rental house sounds just the job. Perhaps you and Huffle shouldn’t lie on Small and Smallest airbed, as we don’t want that one to self deflate.
Exploring and getting your bearings an exciting adventure!
I will be reading daily.
